Who thinks cleaning and cooking is a woman's job?

Unfortunately, most people still think so, men and women. But, did you notice that when cooking and cleaning becomes a business, one paid job, it becomes a privilege of men. Who thinks this is fair?

Reply:Who thinks working to support their family is the man's job?

If you want a lasting and loving relationship with someone, then you both have to do your part. It isn't going to kill a man to do his part of the housework or to watch the kids. Women often have jobs outside of the home these days, in addition to everything else they have to do. Should a man and woman both get up at the same time, go work their 8-10 hrs., and then when they get home--the man lays on the couch while the woman fixes supper? NOT! Should the weekend be a time for a guy to hang out with his friends, while the woman spends her weekend cleaning house and watching the kids? NOT!

If the relationship isn't equal, then someone is getting used bad.
Reply:Nope. I'll tell you one thing though: if you are a male and plan on living on your own some day, you will probably die from starvation.
Reply:Take it somewhere else.
Reply:The origin of this is biological. Because women had the babies they had the brest milk to feed them. Which meant they had to stay close to the babies. That's how women ended up being more at home and taking on more of the home-based jobs. I mean not necessarily home maybe cave or hut. In modern times these separations are no longer required. So it has changed to a point where these things are not women's work. But most women still do it most of the time because it's cultural and historical. Across the human race.
Reply:My ex-husband is a chef, and my son is a better housekeeper than my daughter. (both are grown)
Reply:Who thinks your question is sexist?
Reply:That is really an answer that is answered differently depending on the cultural perspective and the norms of the society you live in. Much of our culture has grown to having families operate cooperatively, with very little divided by gender. In other parts of the world it would be very unusual and odd for a man to cook and unheard of for a woman to change a tire, or even drive. It really depends where you are.

If you have a hard time fitting into US social norms and prefer a more gender role oriented society, I recommned Russia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Georgia. Those are places that still have clearly defined gender roles.
Reply:Most men. It's cuz we do it so much better - like everything else we do.
Reply:Sure, if she's the only person that lives there. Otherwise it's the responsibility of all occupants of the particular dwelling.
Reply:Not I--In these days where most couples both work--both need to share the chores as well.
Reply:Most modern males feel that the cleaning and cooking is equal to both parties but they would prefer a female to do it. Females feel that men should clean and cook. The only smart way to avoid friction between the sexes is by sharing the chores and by alternating them that way the overall job is done and no one will be made to feel less then equal. Of course if you could afford it the samrt way is to hire someone else to do it...but that is just my opinion.
Reply:You must understand, the US is not the whole world. In most of the world their is still limited technology. Most wages and earnings are by manual labor. Most countries still live life as America and Britain in the 1800's.

In these countries, men still have to work in the field. Labouring 12-16 hours a day. The women stay home minding the children and home duties. In those countries the women do not believe the men are chauvanistic. The women are not "burning their bras". They understand it is a matter of survival. They prey for the technology we have, so that they to can whine and bicker about a small duty like cleaning or cooking. They wish they had the free time to spend on the Net like we do.

These women would not call their husbands "caveman". Statements like that show how arrogant and ignorant the US and UK are. We think because we have technology everyone has the same technology. "Cavepeople" still exist. Men working long, difficult, strenuous days in the field still exist. Women cooking and cleanning, certainly, still exist.

These circumstances are not only in foreign countries. They are also in many mid to mid-western states in the US. As recent News showed, many men are still working in cole mines. Many are still farming, and digging, and working hard jobs. The average American only earns about $18,000 a year.

We have to return to reality. Not every family or couple has the privaledge to bicker and argue about the sexes. Most families are just trying to survive. Most families still believe in team work. The middle-class and upper-class citizens in the US and UK are but a minute fraction of the world's population.
Reply:It's neither a man's or a woman's sole job.
