My fiance switched jobs and doesn't clean his apartment anymore?

He used to work from 3pm to 11pm and he now works 9pm to 6am. He used to get up and clean his apartment everyday.... now its like pulling teeth if I just ask if he's going to clean. He doesn't do the dishes or clothes until he needs them. He has a dishwasher but doesn't want to use it. It seems a lot of the time like he's waiting for me to do it and I don't live there. I'll help him clean but he refuses to even do a load of dishes before he goes to bed. We've had plenty of fights over it. And he says he's just getting used to his new schedule. He's been at this job for almost three months. He really only cleans when people come over and when his family comes down and even then he doesn't clean all the way because his mom cleans. He says he doesn't want to be like his brother and his wife or like his mom but how can I get it across to him that I'm not his maid and that if he doesn't want to be like his mom or brother than he needs to clean a little everyday?

Jeffy and Curious are right! Girlfriend, you need to be either moving on or sticking up for yourself and not being used or taken advantage of. I worked the graveyard shift at a hospital for 2 years. I had to adjust from working the day shift to the night shift, but I did not live in a pig sty. I did the dishes, the laundry, and still made time for sleep and family/friends. In addition, I am a single mother of two kids.... I did not have help from a significant other, be it a boyfriend or husband.... His excuse is just that... An excuse.





He is the man and needs to show you he can be responsible. If he can't take care of himself now, how is he going to be the man who can provide for you in the future?
Reply:Don't help him clean, and if you don't like how dirty the place is, don't go over there. Either he'll come around, or you need to be looking elsewhere.
Reply:tell him you are not his maid again, but this time mean it! Refuse to go his pigsty and only see him out or at your house.
