What would you do if your job was, say, a customer service rep, and your boss told you to clean the trash can?

If you told him that you didn't want to clean the trash cans, and your boss said "don't let pride get in the way", would he have a good point?
What would you do if your job was, say, a customer service rep, and your boss told you to clean the trash can?
This is why job descriptions say "work duties may change without notice". Maybe your company don't have a cleaning crew, maybe you have to take care of your own area. Maybe it is just a one time thing, where everyone has to pitch in and help.

In Miami where I work, I would have a law suit if someone asked me to make coffee, where as somewhere else, it might be required of you.

Go ahead and take out the garbage. Don't get on the bad side of your boss. You never know when you will need him.

I once was asked to work on a photocopying project with another co-worker, it was something that had to be done in a hurry, the co-worker said photocopying was beneath her, and not part of her job description, I said yes. She was let go 2 weeks later and I worked for the company for 4 years until I left for another great job.

Unless your boss asks you do to something that isn't safe or illegal, go ahead and do it.
Reply:You should be lucky you have a job these days. As for cleaning the trash can. This is an act of team work. Someone has to do it. As a boss myself, these little things add up and are taken in consideration when there has to be a "chop block". As a customer service rep, you are obviously hired to address customer's issues and concerns. As an employee, teamwork is what it is all about.
Reply:I'd clean the trash can, most jobs have other duties incl and unless you have a trust find or have money in the bank, be prepared to do anything they ask you to do, I have dusted, vacuumed, cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms, a job is a job, and you often have to do things outside your own narrow job description.
Reply:As an employer I would go to the cleaning crew and request that they do their job correctly before I'd ask an employee to do their job for them. If there isn't a cleaning service, then I would expect everyone to take turns cleaning whatever needs to be cleaned, including myself. I would never ask anyone to do what I'm not willing to do.

But, that said, as one poster put it, we should all be glad we have jobs these days. That can change at anytime.
Reply:This is just part of life with a boss. It will stay in your mind for the next 20 years. Then you will open your own business and never have a boss again.

Clean the trash can..
Reply:Yes. Most jobs include unnamed tasks given by your supervisor in the job description. Meaning your job is what your boss tells you to do.
Reply:CSR jobs consist of doing whatever your boss needs and whatever the customer needs. If you want a better job without cleaning trash then go to college and get a four year degree.
Reply:If you check your job description, it will probably read something like 'and any other duties assigned by management'.
Reply:If its not in the job description you can tell him no and go to Human Resources and complain.
Reply:YES. If you look at your job description, you will see 'Other duties as assigned'. There are plenty of unemployed people who would do it...

Manager of rooming house - his job to clean common areas or mine as a tenant????

i used to run a boarding house and it was my job to keep the common areas clean.this man is the laziest manager i've ever met
Manager of rooming house - his job to clean common areas or mine as a tenant????
Who cleans the common areas should be specified in the rental agreement. Also it needs to define what are common areas. For example is the stair landing on your floor a common area or your private area?

Once you determine who is responsible for cleaning common areas, if it is the manager and he is not doing it, you can remind him nicely, and if that does not work notify the owner. If several tenants do so , the owner will take action.
Reply:read your lease, hopefully you have one.

I would like to clean offices as a part time job but need some info concerning how much to charge.?

Any advice or info would be appreciated.
I would like to clean offices as a part time job but need some info concerning how much to charge.?
call other business in your area and ask how much do they charge and go from there GOOD LUCK
Reply:it depends on the duties involved. are you emptying wastebaskets and vacumning the floors? $10 per office. Are you washing windows too? add $10 per office. You don't charge by the hour, you charge by the space. Are there 50 cubicles? what is on the floor, carpet or tile? Are you mopping, buffing floors? mopping and buffing you compute by the space, $10 foot by 20 foot = $30 . It also depends on where you are. what city. what region of the country. you charge more in New York City than Canton Ohio. Lot of variables in these equations.
Reply:around 5 dollars a sqaure foot

How long does it take to get pot out of your system..not a big user..need to get clean for job interview?

It depends on a few factors. If you carry a large percent of body fat, it may take longer as THC stores in your fat cells instead of simply in the blood. If you eat a low fiber, high-fat diet it will also slow the detox process. If you are a heavy user and have been for some time it can take up to 3 months. Honestly. the teas and detox drinks are not 100% fool proof (trust me, on this.) :( So if you're really worried you can use a synthetic alternate. There is one called QUick Fix that I have used in the past and it definitely works. Just make sure to buy 2 since 1 tends to not be not enough of a specimen. Good Luck

About thirty days start to finish. Depending on how long before the test you can drink vinegar and there are also natural herbal supplements available at health food stores. Pee a alot.
Reply:I've heard you can buy stuff at a head shop that will clean out pot. And you have to drink a lot of water or cranberry juice with it. But it has worked for some people I know. The more in advance you take it of the test the better.

I need to clean years of grime from my paving stones, what would be the best tool for the job?

I'm thinking steam cleaner or jet washer but is there a better way?
I need to clean years of grime from my paving stones, what would be the best tool for the job?
depends on size and how much elbow grease you can put in... small cheap jet washer is good idea, but also cheap value bleach (very thin liquid type not gel) put into a sprayer and then spray a fine mist (be careful of eyes, skin %26amp; clothing etc) and then leave for 5 - 10 mins and then scrub with hard bristle broom - works wonders.
Reply:pressure washer, fantastic tool . i picked one up in Morrison's supermarket for 拢25.00. it blasts the grime of my slabs,it cleans my decking.and i alter the nozzle for a more gentler spray to wash the car. best 拢25.00 Ive ever spent?
Reply:use a mixture of 50/50 water and bleach. scrub and rinse off, this also works on decks and outside walls where the rain splashes on the house.
Reply:power washer would be best or try CLR
Reply:pressure washer! they are amazing! and they are pretty cheap to! happy washing!
Reply:Pressure Washer !!
Reply:I did mine the other week and used a jet washer. The patio is looking like it is brand new now. Just be careful when doing it as you may dislodge the concerete that is holding the slabs down.
Reply:Hire a steam cleaner, we cleaned off my mums drive in a few minutes with one we got from a local hire shop.
Reply:waterblaster
Reply:Jet washer is the best way - you can buy this special fluid for cleaning the stones but to be honest it is a waster of money - 4 weeks later and the grime starts to build up again. Buy a small jet washer for around 拢40 and you'll save in the long run

What is the best job for a mother who only has experience as a counter person in Dry cleaner store?

I have friends who make a LOT of money selling stuff on ebay. They shop garage sales, empty the clutter from their houses, and resell it on ebay.

Your only investment should be in a digital camera to take pictures of the items you're selling, and a printer to print out Priority Mail labels.

Take some time to learn how ebay sellers write their item promotional paragraphs. Set limits for your shipping areas (like continental US only if you don't want to ship overseas).

Get a PayPal account so you can take PayPal as a seller. The money you earn transfers into whatever bank account you want, when you want to, or you can reuse it lots of places on the Internet which take PayPal.

The best part of this kind of job is your freedom. You're home with your family, your time is your own, and you can make money clearing clutter and selling things you no longer need or want. Better than Avon, MaryKay, Amway, or any other home show type business.

Talk to your CPA about how to manage the tax end of it; you should declare your earnings.

The downside is there are no benefits like health insurance, but you may have a spouse with adequate benefits. You could potentially earn enough selling on ebay to either self-insure or buy into your spouse's policy.

Reply:whatever you want, this is still America....if Dogg the bounty hunter can be a hit,,so can you!

Just remember the stress factor when applying, some employers won't put up with the laid back types...
