Is it wrong to use synthetic or clean Urine to pass a jobs drug test?

I have a prescription for medical marijuana and as an American I have a right to privacy concerning my medical conditions. I have had many drug tests for jobs, and have always passed them, but never stopped using my medicine. Is it wrong for me to hide my medical condition and treatment from my employer?

Your own medical history is in no way an employer's business.

If you refuse to take the test, they will likely refuse to let you work there. If you explain your situation, they may understand...or they may not. You're at their mercy, especially if you are in a State like Florida, where employers can fire you and not provide a reason for it.

Your medical history is something you should keep private between your doctors, your family, and yourself.

On that note, I would suggest using the clean or synthetic urine, if you live in a "right to work" state, like Florida.
Reply:It depends on your duties at work. I am an employer and I sometimes smoke pot. But I would not like the thought of one of my boys being "stoned" while installing a furnace in a customers home which could explode or burn the house down. YOU have to be responsible. Your employer could wind up being sued out of business while you continue on your merry little way to screw up someone else's life. Show some backbone and leave the dope at home on work days.
Reply:If you had Lyme disease and were taking Oxycontin or Ultracet for the pain, you'd not disclose that information...what makes medicinal marijuana any different?

Don't use synthetic urine -- that's taking it a little too far.

Get a detox drink and use that instead.
Reply:That one I really am not sure of but if you test positive for Marijuana you can be fired. And there is nothing you can do about it because you failed to inform them of your condition that requires you to smoke Marry Jane.
Reply:yes, it is wrong.

If your health issues can potentially hinder your ability to do your job - then it IS the right of them employer to know. Your employer has the right to maintain a safe working environment - and drug screening is part of that.
Reply:not at all your medical stuff is your business and yours only to tell plus it is illegal for you to be fired or denied employment for this and really it's not that bad i would love to tell my boss i smoke weed but you see i would get fired so enjoy you lucky bastard
Reply:Of course it is wrong. It is cheating. If YOU have to take a drug test, legally you have to give YOUR specimen for the test.

If you have a prescription, then it shouldn't be an issue. Prescription medication is permitted.
Reply:I'd tell them if you are using "medicine" because if you were to fail a drug test, then you'll have questions to answer and face a possible firing if they have a strict drug policy. And yes it is wrong to cheat on a drug test.
Reply:It depends on what the company's policy is and what the marijuana's for.

Personally, I would tell them sooner rather than later.
Reply:only if you get caught sounds like your a pot head if you are perscribed it they can not hold it against you
Reply:well duh its wrong but maybe you should tell them they would understand
Reply:Of course it is...In the long run the truth always comes out...look at AIG and Bernie Madoff...

If you are up front with your boss he/she will have respect for youin the long run...if you lie and they find out...you will be percieved as dishonest...as well you would be.

Joyce Meyer is a minister and years ago her boss asked her to do something that was dishonest...she told him she couldnt do that...even if it meant she would lose her job...the next day her boss told her to do it the right way...becuse of her honesty her boss came to trust her and she eventually became the head of her department...her boss said because of how honest she was it meant to him that he could trust her...

Honesty is always the best policy
