I've been cleaning homes and businesses now for 2 years. Most of the time it is more difficult to clean when the owners are present. The only good thing about them being there is them being able to show what they want done. Most of the people try to stay out of the way and that is very helpful but some just go in and out when I am in an area. They get what I have just cleaned dirty again and expect me to clean it again. It is a waste of their money and my time. It is better for them to be gone because that allows me to clean in the most efficient way- start with what needs to be done first. I understand though that some people want to make sure you are doing what they want and how they want and making the customer happy is the most important thing so I would say it is really up to them.
Reply:I don't work as a housekeeper now- But I saw quite a lot when I did.





Some people are indeed a lot harder to work around. There was one sweet-natured lady I used to clean for- and I think she was lonely. She was an elderly darling, and always so appreciative of the work that was done for her- But it was hard to do anything while she was hugging me, and more than once I had to catch a closet door that started to fall down on her while I was doing her laundry.





Other people prefer to be there while the housekeeper is, and still others prefer to be out.
Reply:I use to clean houses about 5 years ago and I always preferred that they weren't home so I could turn the music on and just keep cleaning without interruption. When I think of it, if it were me having my house cleaned, then I would want to be here. Just b/c its hard to trust people in your home when you aren't there
Reply:I cleaned houses about 6 years ago. I never cleaned a house when someone was home, they usually wanted me to come during the day when they were at work.
Reply:I've cleaned houses both while there and away. I prefer them to not be home, but what can you do? I always feel like they go behind me after I leave a room.

its nicer when ther are not there (u can watch TV ect)
