Reply:They aren't. Our country is giving our jobs to them.
Reply:Mexicans will work for a lot less than blacks will work for. Secondly, blacks know the definition of "minimum wage". Thirdly, Mexicans can be worked to death because if they are here illegally, they can't complain to anyone for mistreatment. Americans are more likely to sue and demand to be treated fairly. Businesses hate independent workers/thinkers. Businesses are MOST concerned with profit margins than with giving benefits to their workers.

Certain ethnic groups can also tend to have a great work ethic, and can be very hard workers.

Reply:I agree with those of you who said our government is at fault here. When are we going to stop blaming the illegals for the benefits they reap here? OUR GOVERNMENT set up welfare programs for illegals, OUR GOVERMENT made it easy for illegals to get healthcare free, OUR GOVERNMENT gives our jobs away! Then OUR GOVERNMENT turns around and spits in the faces of the hardworkers THEY employed and wants to send them packing back to Mexico. And of course OUR GOVERNMENT would want to hire employees that would work hard for 5 dollars a day. God forbid Bush Jr. dish out more money than needed.
Reply:What does race have to do with anything? Why make an issue of it. Some of you are beyond ignorant. How about blaming the people who had hired the immigrants (perhaps our own government? and btw, the story does NOT even clearly state that these immigrants were illegal) instead of blaming the immigrants themselves. I'm assuming that the immigrants were probably willing to work for lower wages, and that's why they were hired, and NOT because they were Mexican. Mexican immigrants (legal and illegal) are often willing to work for very low wages, and this is why many end up with jobs no one else is willing to do. No one else is willing to do these jobs because they are often not willing to work for very low wages like many immigrants. Do you think the immigrants that work long, hard days for very low wages are really taking jobs from Americans (black, white or any other race)? Probably not, because many of us would not be willing to work as long or as hard as many do for what is often less then minimum wage. Immigrants are a cheap source of labor to many industries. Why blame people that are working hard to support themselves and their families? If you are going to blame anyone, it should be the people and industries that hire illegal immigrants.
Reply:The last time I checked, the Mexican military was given permission to bring two kitchen truck convoys to the Katrina stricken area because the US government was incapable of providing adequate relief to those suffering. The Mexican army didn't ask anyone what their nationality was and everyone who came to them benefitted. The Mexican Navy stationed a hospital ship off the coast of Louisiana to provide medical assistance to ALL who needed it, because FEMA, Michael Brown, The White House, and all other governmental agencies weren't able to respond properly.





I don't know where the heck people get their news from, but it is all wrong. There are many people of Mexican ancestry who are US citizens who live in the Gulf Coast and, to everyone's surprise, are legally and gainfully employed.





If you are really concerned about jobs being taken away from Americans, why don't you take a closer look at how American businesses are sending jobs to India, Malaysia, The Philippines . . . Companies who take jobs away from Americans should pay a tax penalty or fine to support the growing number of unemployed due to these Bush-approved policies. It is the American CEO, CFO, Board Director, President . . . who is taking jobs from us.





Try some critical thinking. Paranoia is very easy.
